Winter is not the most popular season for photographers and amateurs practicing street shooting. When the first twilight is coming around the snow around the snow, the first twilight occurs, to take a lot of pictures at a time causes difficulties. However, in the winter entourage you can get unique and wonderful photos full of sparkling shine, lightness and the corresponding atmosphere. Remove on the street in winter – it is possible and necessary, but it should be done competently.

The first problem that beginners face is fear for expensive equipment. Almost all manufacturers of modern cameras warn that shooting in frost is dangerous for equipment. However, the main difficulty is not the minus temperature itself, but the condensate that occurs when it enters the warm room. Thinking about condensate, you need to know that it is detrimental to both optics and the insides of the camera. Humidity arising on technology when entering heat can disable even the most sophisticated chamber. Therefore, going into the room after shooting, it is necessary to wrap the camera into a plastic bag. And leave him to bask for at least a couple of hours. The temperature of the equipment should approach the temperature reigning in the room. You can’t immediately turn on the camera after the street, such a risk will not be justified.

Gathering for a photo shop, you should grab a spare battery for the camera from the house. In the cold, the battery discharges too quickly, depriving the opportunity to shoot for a long time. If there is no such spare part, then the battery should be kept warm, for example, in the inner pocket of the jacket, inserting into the camera before shooting. The camera itself is not required to hide each time in the bag. Although from a long stay in the cold, the technique may begin to “slow down”.

Another problem is seen snow. When shooting in snowfall, you can get expressive and interesting photos. Snow is not as dangerous as rain. You can have time to brush it off the camera before the snowflakes turn into drops of water, applying tangible damage to the camera. For reinsurance, you can use special covers for a camera designed for underwater shooting and photographing in inclement weather. Such a transparent cover protects the camera from excess humidity and damp.

If the technical points of interaction with the camera are not seen complex, you should go to the nuances of the shooting itself. Often on winter shots, the color of snow comes out not white, but blue or gray. This occurs due to incorrect settings for the balance of white. In modern digital cameras, there is a “snow removal” function, but it is more common at ordinary “soapses”. Professional and semi -professional cameras require a separate setting. To make the snow cover really white and looks “natural” in the picture, before shooting you need to select a white snow area or take a simple sheet of paper. And by paper or the available snowy piece to configure the balance of white to the required option. Even if the white color does not come out to the perfect option, the subsequent processing of the picture in Photoshop or Lightrum will allow you to stretch the tone and adjust the picture.

In winter shooting there is an advantage based on the presence of natural light. Snow reflects the sun’s rays, therefore it is often possible to avoid exposure settings and diaphragms that need a tripod.

Winter shooting is subjected to the same rules as photographing in any other season: accounting of the composition, the idea and atmosphere of the photo, the correctly selected settings in the cell.

And, of course, going to take pictures in a clear frosty day, the photographer should take care of himself. Dress warmer, grab a thermos with hot tea, coffee from the house, do not forget about gloves. The most magnificent shots can only turn out when the photographer feels comfortably, not being distracted by small unpleasant details.
